President's Message

Welcome!

AOWCGWA is an officers' wives club located in the Greater Washington Area. Since 1974, our club has played an active role in the military community.  Currently, we have a membership of over 450 ladies. We are a multigenerational, international group with members who have experienced every war from WWII to the War on Terror.  

We have a great volunteer opportunity at our amazing Thrift Shop on Fort Myer. The AOWCGWA Ft Myer Thrift Shop is the fundraising arm of our club. Through the tireless work of the staff and volunteers we are able to help many students with higher education as well as assist worthy community organizations that touch the lives of our military. This past year, through the efforts of our Thrift Shop, we gave away $228,000! If you are looking for a place to ‘plug in’ as a volunteer, check out the Thrift Shop! (www.fortmyerthriftshop.org)

We offer a New York City day trip December 12th and other tours at local attractions throughout the year. At our monthly luncheon we have our own Ways and Means table with various vendors. Special activity groups like Bridge, Great Decisions, Flick Chicks, Scrapbooking, Lunch Bunch, Theatre Group, Walking Around Washington and Living Word Bible Study offer interest groups to meet many needs. Our members' Zip Code Groups are a great way to meet other military spouses who live close to you. As you can see there is much to do as part of AOWCGWA!
