The Greater Metropolitan Area can provide memorable experiences within our unique military community. We offer friendship, support, opportunities to volunteer, special activities, Zip Code groups, and much more to enhance your connection to other military spouses living in the region. We offer fun activities and a close community for support and advice about unique activities available in this area. Join us to rediscover the support that can come from a close community at a unit or installation level.  Members of the Army Officers’ Wives’ Club live throughout the metro area in Maryland, Washington DC, and Virginia, including Joint Base Fort Myer-Henderson Hall, Fort McNair, and Fort Belvoir.

Membership is voluntary and open to active duty members and retirees; spouses of DA civilians (GS-9 and above); spouses, widows/widowers, and adult family members of commissioned and warrant officers of the US Army and the other Military Services who are active duty, in the Reserve Components, retired from active duty, retired from reserve component duty, and those separated from service who maintain eligibility for rights and privileges that accompany the family member ID.  Spouses of accredited Military Attaches and Assistant Attaches assigned to embassies in Washington DC; spouses of foreign officers (sponsored by their respective embassies) assigned to duties in the National Capital Region; spouses of the Superintendent and the Deputy Superintendent of Arlington National Cemetery during their sponsor's tenure; designated Honorary members; and other persons deemed appropriate upon approval of a majority vote of the Board of Directors. 

Benefits of Membership

AOWCGWA dues are $30 per year.  This membership fee includes a membership directory, a subscription to our monthly publication, BackChannels, and an open invitation to participate in a large variety of club sponsored activities and special programs to include our International Activities, the annual Joint Armed Forces Officers' Wives Luncheon (JAFOWL) and our yearly trip to New York City.

AOWCGWA Thrift Shop

The Fort Myer Thrift Shop is a non-profit organization in partnership with  the Army Officers' Wives' Club of the Greater Washington Area whose purpose is to provide an outlet for military personnel and their family members to sell used clothing and other items. The profits made from purchases, consignments and donations, after all expenses have been paid, will be for disbursement to the military community for educational and charitable activities.  The Thrift Shop is open to the public.  Volunteers are welcome!  Call or visit the Manager or Thrift Shop Chairman of Volunteers.

 

Luncheon Reservation Policy

Please be aware that reservations are required for our luncheons.

Reservation Deadline:  is no later than the Friday prior to the luncheon. 

Cancellations:  Must be made by phone no later than noon on the Friday prior to the luncheon.
